When I realised that this article was to be written for Mothers Day I started thinking about mothers in the Bible. There is a lot in the Bible about monthers but I have just picked out two references.
At the wedding at Cana in Galilee Jesus’ mother was there and told Jesus “they have no more wine”, and then she said to the servants “do whatever he tells you”. Jesus then turned the water into wine (John 2). His mother realised that obedience to Jesus brings true blessings.

Imagine walking through a shopping centre and coming towards a man demonstrating a bright orange life jacket.
He is there trying to enthuse the crowd explaining properties of the life jacket, its floatation capacity, its unique harness system, its ratings on how long it would keep a person afloat, plus its guarantee, and its cost. No one seems very excited about buying a bright orange jacket.
But now imagine you are on a cruise ship in the middle of an ocean. The ship has just struck a reef and the water is gushing in through a large hole in the side of the ship.

Some while ago I was reading Acts 10 vv 23-48, about Peter visiting Cornelius, the Roman Centurion. I was struck by this passage - its gentleness, humility, total faith by both parties. It opened up the way to the Gentiles - Alleluia for that!
Peter and the Centurion had such feeling for God - God knew this was the way forward, to open up the world for his Word. The Gospel has been given to all of us, not just the Jews - how wonderful is that!
I felt humbled by this passage - it was such a good read - try it.

So how has your week been? Have you had the highs of a mountain top week or the lows of a valley experience?
As you all know I am getting married in 3 weeks and 6 days as you read this. I have had the mountain top week and Kadi has had the valley. I have been excited and had good news. Kadi however has had bad news with work stuff. But where does the fruit grow? In the valleys! It is so very easy to forget about God when you are having the mountain top time and forget all that he does for you but when you are in the Valleys the fruit grows and you lean on the Lord.

Is your Faith in Christ under attack at the moment? Are you having Doubts, about certain aspects of your faith, Do you feel that you have sinned because of this, that you have let Jesus down?
Stop and think. Remember Jesus words in John 14, “You believe in God, believe also in Me”

The earliest known “valentine” is in the British Library in London, dated 1477. It was sent by a Margery Brews to her sweetheart. She signed it “MB” written so it looked like a heart.
It is wonderful to be loved, to know someone cares, someone understands, that whatever pleasure of pain there may be, there is someone who we can talk it through with. This applies whether we are a child/teenager/grown-up, or even an old “wrinkly”. People without love on the human level can be quite lonely.
